MLB: Kansas City 2, Toronto 1

KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 26 (UPI) -- Jose Guillen's go-ahead solo homer in the bottom of the seventh Saturday boosted the Kansas City Royals past Toronto 2-1.

The struggling left-fielder was batting just .182 when he stroked his second homer this season leading off the bottom of the sixth inning.

Ross Gload drove in a run with a single in the fourth and five players had one hit each for the Royals, who have won two in a row following a seven-game losing streak.

In his first major league win, right-hander Luke Hochevar (1-1) gave up an earned run and six hits in six innings.

Closer Joakim Soria pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his sixth save.

Alex Rios drove in Toronto's lone run in the top of the fifth. David Eckstein had three hits and Matt Stairs two for the Blue Jays, who have dropped six straight games.

Losing pitcher Shaun Marcum (2-2) yielded two earned runs and just four hits in seven innings, with three walks and four strikeouts.
