NHL: Pittsburgh 5, N.Y. Rangers 4

PITTSBURGH, April 25 (UPI) -- Sidney Crosby's goal at 1:41 of the third period Friday boosted Pittsburgh past the New York Rangers 5-4 in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinal.

Crosby's third playoff goal brought Pittsburgh all the way back from a 3-0 second period deficit.

It was the Rangers' second loss in 95 playoff games all-time after a 3-0 advantage.

New York's Martin Straka (power play), Chris Drury and Sean Avery scored the game's first three goals.

Pittsburgh came within 3-2 on goals by Jarkko Ruutu and Pascal Dupuis late in the second and the Penguins scored three of the four goals in the third period.

Marian Hossa, Petr Sykora and Evgeni Malkin (power play) also scored and Pittsburgh goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury gave up four goals on 24 shots.

Rangers' goalie Henrik Lundqvist was beaten five times on 26 shots.

Game 2 is Sunday afternoon in Pittsburgh.
