MLB: LA Dodgers 8, Arizona 3

LOS ANGELES, April 24 (UPI) -- James Loney and Chin-Lung Hu drove in two runs each Wednesday and the Los Angeles Dodgers fought off Arizona 8-3.

Loney singled in a run in both the first and third innings, and Hu's two-run single in the fifth staked the Dodgers to a 6-1 lead.

Los Angeles then survived a would-be Arizona comeback. The Diamondbacks put eight runners on base over the last three innings, but scored only two of them.

The Dodgers added two insurance runs in the eighth when, with two runners aboard, Arizona right fielder Justin Upton misplayed a fly ball by Loney for an error.

Derek Lowe (2-1) survived five innings to get the win, giving up a run on three hits.

After compiling an ERA of 1.80 and winning his first three decisions, Dan Haren struggled against the Dodgers. Haren (3-1) surrendered nine hits and six runs in 4 2/3.
