MILWAUKEE, April 23 (UPI) -- The second of Prince Fielder's pair of two-run homers gave Milwaukee the lead in the eighth Wednesday and the Brewers went on to edge Philadelphia 5-4.
Eight of the game's nine runs came on homers with Fielder hitting the first one and the last one. It was the ninth two-homer game of Fielder's career and helped Milwaukee win for the fifth time in seven outings.
Gabe Kapler singled in a Milwaukee run in the first inning and he then scored in front of Fielder's homer to center.
Philadelphia came back to take the lead on a solo homer by Chase Utley in the third, a two-run shot by Greg Dobbs in the fifth and another solo blast by Pat Burrell in the sixth. It was Utley's 10th homer of the year.
With Cole Hamels (2-3) on the mound in the eighth, Ryan Braun led off the inning with a double and Fielder hit a 1-2 pitch over the wall in right.
Mitch Stetter (1-0) worked two innings of one-hit relief to get the win. Derrick Turnbow worked around a ninth-inning walk to pick up his first save.
