KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 23 (UPI) -- Casey Blake went 4-for-4 with a grand slam, two doubles and six RBI Tuesday to power the Cleveland Indians' 15-1 rout of the Kansas City Royals.
Franklin Gutierrez was 3-for-5 with two doubles, three RBI and three runs scored for the Indians, who won for just the third time in eight games. Jhonny Peralta was 3-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs scored, and David Dellucci homered and drove in two runs.
C.C. Sabathia (1-3), the reigning American League Cy Young winner, struck out 11 and allowed just four hits in six shutout innings. Jorge Julio, Jensen Lewis and Rafael Betancourt held the Royals to one run over the final three frames.
Gil Meche (1-3) lasted 3 1/3 innings after allowing eight runs on nine hits as the Royals suffered their fifth straight loss. Four Royals relief pitchers gave up seven runs over the final 5 2/3 innings.
