MLB: Oakland 13, Kansas City 2

OAKLAND, Calif., April 19 (UPI) -- Bobby Crosby drove in five runs Friday, three of them with a homer during an eight-run eighth, helping the Oakland Athletics maul Kansas City 13-2.

Kansas City starter Brian Bannister came into the game unbeaten, having allowed just two earned runs in 21 innings.

Oakland, however, roughed up Bannister (3-1) for five runs on nine hits in five innings. The Athletics pounded out 15 hits to halt a three-game losing streak.

Chad Gaudin (1-1) benefited from the offense to get the win, allowing four hits and two runs in seven innings.

Kansas City had a 2-1 lead going into the sixth, but Bannister gave up three singles and a two-run double to Crosby before being removed. Travis Buck delivered the third run of the inning with a sacrifice fly and Jack Hannahan singled in another to make it 5-2.

Oakland put it away with a huge eighth inning, during which 11 batters came to the plate.

Crosby walked and scored the first run of the inning and then, later in the frame, hit a two-out, three-run homer to center.
