NHL: Dallas 3, Anaheim 1

DALLAS, April 17 (UPI) -- Marty Turco made 26 saves Thursday and the Dallas Stars moved within one win of reaching the Western Conference semifinals by downing Anaheim 3-1.

Turco did not give up a goal until 7.6 seconds remained in the game, just missing what would have been his second shutout of the series.

The Stars took a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-seven matchup and can advance in the playoffs for the first time in five years in Anaheim Friday.

Joel Lundqvist grabbed a turnover deep in Anaheim's end of the ice and put a wrist shot past Jean-Sebastien Giguere with 3:21 remaining in the first period.

Stu Barnes took a pass from Mike Modano and scored on a breakaway at 9:01 of the third. Steve Ott tipped in a shot by Barnes with 2:43 to play to make it 3-0.

Mathieu Schneider ended Turco's shutout bid as time wound down, but Dallas fans continued to chant, "Marty, Marty," as the game ended.

Turco blanked the defending Stanley Cup champion Ducks in the opening game of the series 4-0.
