MLB: Seattle 4, Oakland 2

OAKLAND, Calif., April 17 (UPI) -- Felix Hernandez allowed eight hits while going the distance Wednesday, sending Seattle to a 4-2 triumph over Oakland.

Only one of the runs surrendered by Hernandez (2-0) was earned and he held on to protect an early 3-0 advantage.

Joe Vidro doubled in two runs during the three-run first inning and Seattle went on to hand the Athletics just their second loss in eight games. Hernandez walked one and struck out eight.

Joe Blanton (1-3) gave up 12 hits and four runs over eight innings.

Seattle resumed its domination in Oakland, having defeated the Athletics in their home park eight times in nine games last year.
