BRISTOL, Conn., April 16 (UPI) -- Disgruntled Cincinnati Bengals Pro Bowl wide receiver Chad Johnson says he wants to be traded and will not attend any team functions.
His latest comments followed a statement by quarterback Carson Palmer, who said Johnson had told him that he would be at the Bengals' mandatory minicamp in mid-June.
"I want to make this very clear," Johnson told ESPN Wednesday. "I don't know where he got that. I made no assertion to Carson that I would do that. Nothing has changed from what I've been saying for three months -- that I don't want to play for the Bengals. I want to be traded before the draft, and if that doesn't happen, I want to be traded as soon as possible."
Last season, the seven-year veteran caught 93 passes for 1,440 yards, scored eight and went to the Pro Bowl.
Johnson has 559 receptions for 8,365 yards with 49 touchdowns in 108 NFL games.
