Garnett, Iverson NBA weekly winners

NEW YORK, April 14 (UPI) -- Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett and Denver Nuggets guard Allen Iverson were named Monday the Eastern and Western Players of the Week.

Garnett became the first Celtic to take the honor three times in one season since Larry Bird won it four times during the 1985-86 campaign. He averaged 19.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists in four games.

Boston was 3-1 after clinching the East's top seed by April 5. Garnett is averaging 19 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.4 steals in 33.1 minutes per game this season.

Iverson and the Nuggets also were 3-1. They are trying to take the Western Conference's eighth and final playoff berth. Iverson, who also has won weekly honors three times this season, averaged 28.8 points and 6.8 assists during the week.
