The 6-foot-9 Hansbrough, a junior from Poplar Bluff, Mo., averaged 22.8 points and 10.3 rebounds in 38 games.

Previously, the Player of the Year in the Atlantic Coast Conference also captured the Naismith Award and earned the top player honor from the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

"It's hard, I feel pretty up-and-down overall," Hansbrough told The (Raleigh, N.C.) News & Observer this week after the Tar Heels were dumped by eventual national champion Kansas 84-66 in the national semifinals. "I'm disappointed because team success is always first in my mind, and it's difficult coming off a loss and coming and getting an award, but also I feel honored."

He has not made up his mind on whether to enter the NBA draft in June.
