MLB: N.Y. Yankees 4, Boston 1

BOSTON, April 11 (UPI) -- Chien-Ming Wang allowed two hits in going the distance Friday and brought the New York Yankees a 4-1 victory over Boston.

Jason Giambi hit the go-ahead homer off Mike Timlin in the seventh to propel the Yankees to their second straight win.

Wang (3-0) equaled the lowest complete-game hit total of his major league career, having also fired a two-hitter against Tampa Bay in 2006. He did not allow the Red Sox a hit until the fifth, when J.D. Drew hit a homer that just escaped the outstretched glove of Bobby Abreu.

Wang also struck out three and did not walk a batter, lowering his ERA to 1.23. It was the fourth complete game of his career.

Timlin (0-1) took the loss in relief of Clay Buchholz, who allowed four hits and a run over six innings.

Boston has lost five out of seven. Slugger David Ortiz has just one hit in his last 25 at-bats.
