Yelle scored the game's first goal just 2:47 into the contest by tipping in a shot by Robyn Regehr.

Yelle made it 3-1 with 3:39 left in the second period by again getting his stick on a shot in front of the net and having it slip past Evgeni Nabokov.

Kiprusoff then held off the Sharks until Ryane Clowe scored with 57 seconds remaining in regulation.

San Jose will host Calgary again Thursday in the second game of the series.
