MLB: Colorado 2, St. Louis 1

ST. LOUIS, April 2 (UPI) -- Kip Wells gave up just a Yadier Molina solo homer and three other hits Tuesday, leading Colorado to a 2-1 win over St. Louis.

Wells notched three strikeouts and allowed up three walks in going 5 1/3 innings but didn't figure in the decision. Taylor Buchholz (1-0) got the win with a scoreless seventh and Manny Corpas threw a perfect ninth for the save.

Colorado got its first run in the eighth when Troy Tulowitzki singled, advanced on Todd Helton's double and scored on an errant throw by Troy Glaus. The Rockies' second run came on Jayson Nix's bases-loaded walk.

St. Louis starter Kyle Lohse gave up three hits and three walks with three strikeouts over five shutout innings. Ryan Franklin (0-1) was saddled with the loss, giving up the two runs on two hits without recording an out.

The game was the rescheduled home opener for the Cardinals, who had been leading 5-1 when Monday's game was rained out.
