MLB: N.Y. Mets 7, Florida 2

MIAMI, March 31 (UPI) -- Two-time Cy Young winner Johan Santana, in his debut with the New York Mets, allowed just two runs Monday in a 7-2 win over the Florida Marlins.

Santana (1-0), acquired in an off-season trade with Minnesota, gave up three hits and two walks while striking out eight in seven innings.

David Wright hit a three-run double in the fourth inning for the Mets, who lost 12 of their last 17 games last season and lost the NL East to the Philadelphia Phillies on the last day of the season.

Josh Willingham's two-run home run accounted for the Florida scoring. Mark Hendrickson (0-1) allowed six runs on seven hits in five innings for the Marlins, who finished last season with an NL East-worst 71-91 record.
