COLUMBIA, S.C., March 30 (UPI) -- The University of South Carolina is pursuing Western Kentucky's Darrin Horn to be its next men's basketball coach, to succeed the retired Dave Odom.

Both The State in Columbia and The Daily News in Bowling Green reported Sunday that Horn has been contacted by the Southeast Conference school. The News said Horn is interested.

"It's only speculation on my end, but I'd be surprised if South Carolina didn't send a plane to pick up Darrin and (Horn's wife) Carla and try and wine them and dine them (Saturday)," WKU Athletic Director Wood Selig told the News. "That's what I would have done."

The State reported that Horn is the first candidate Hyman is known to have officially requested permission to interview.

In five years at the Sun Belt Conference school, his alma mater, Horn's record is 111-48.

His contract at WKU is for three more years with an annual buyout of $157,000.
