LOS ANGELES, March 30 (UPI) -- Al Thornton scored a career-high 39 points Saturday and the Los Angeles Clippers downed the Memphis Grizzlies 110-97 to break a 10-game losing streak.
The 39 points by Thornton equaled Terry Cummings and Tom Chambers for the most ever by a Clippers rookie.
A layup by Rudy Gay brought Memphis within 87-80, but Thornton scored six straight points to give the Clippers a 94-82 advantage with 5:10 left, and Memphis didn't threaten down the stretch.
Corey Maggette had 26 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Brevin Knight had 14 points and 11 assists. Chris Kaman totaled 10 points, 15 rebounds and four blocked shots, while Cuttino Mobley scored 13 points with four rebounds and three assists.
The Grizzlies had surprised the Lakers 114-111 Friday.
