Hedblom, who squandered a chance to win the Malaysian Open for a second straight time three weeks ago, moved up from a tie for 10th place after the first round with a round that included three birdies and an eagle at the 510-yard fifth hole.

"I am having a good year this season and that is really all down to my putting which is a lot better than it used to be," he said.

England's Robert Dinwiddie (65) and David Lynn (67) and Thomas Levet (68) of France all share third place at 7-under 137.

Overnight leader and defending champion Lee Westwood (73) of England joined a group of seven players in sixth at 6-under 138.
