COL BKB: Davidson 73, Wisconsin 56

DETROIT, March 28 (UPI) -- Stephen Curry added another chapter to his growing stardom Friday by carrying Davidson past Wisconsin 73-56 and into the NCAA Tournament's Elite Eight.

Davidson will try to become the first No. 10 seed in tournament history to reach the Final Four when it plays in the Midwest Region finals on Sunday. The Wildcats (29-6) won their 25th consecutive game.

Davidson battled the defensive-minded Badgers to a tie after 20 minutes and then broke the game open with a 17-2 run that began five minutes deep in the second half.

Curry, who totaled 70 points in the Wildcats' tournament wins over Gonzaga and Georgetown, added 33 against Wisconsin. Andrew Lovedale chipped in 12 for Davidson. Curry scored 22 points in the second half -- two more than the entire Wisconsin team.

The Badgers (31-5) were led by Michael Flowers with 12 points. Wisconsin had lost just twice in its previous 27 games.

Davidson will be the seventh 10th seeded team to play in the regional finals. The last team to do so was Kent State in 2002. The only teams seeded lower than Davidson to reach the Final Four have been No. 11 seeds George Mason (2006) and LSU (1986).
