NEW YORK, March 27 (UPI) -- Nigel Dawes scored the game-winner Thursday when the New York Rangers slipped past New Jersey 3-2.
New Jersey carried a 2-1 lead into the third period, but Christian Beckman's third goal this season (power play) at 1:38 of the third created a 2-2 tie. Dawes' game-winner, his 13th goal of the season, came with 3:06 left in regulation.
Beckman redeemed himself after his error on a clearing attempt in New Jersey's zone in the second led to a Zach Parise's 31st with under two minutes left and a 2-1 Ranger deficit. Beckman also was credited with an assist on Dawes' game winner.

New Jersey got one goal each from Parise and Patrick Elias.
Martin Brodeur yielded three goals on 31 shots for the Devils, who sank to 0-4-1 in their last five games.
