NBA: San Antonio 97, LA Clippers 88

SAN ANTONIO, March 27 (UPI) -- Tim Duncan made eight of 10 shots and scored 26 points Wednesday, lifting San Antonio over the Los Angeles Clippers 97-88.

The Spurs have won five in a row and kept pace with Houston for the third seed in the Western Conference. San Antonio and Houston are a game behind New Orleans in the Southwest Division.

Tony Parker added 15 points and Michael Finley had 14.

Los Angeles lost its ninth consecutive game. Corey Maggette paced the Clippers with 22 points.

The Clippers took the lead in the fourth period with an 11-0 run, but San Antonio then held the Clippers scoreless for more than four minutes while scoring 10 straight.

Manu Ginobili put the Spurs in front for good with 2:54 remaining by hitting a three-pointer. Finley's three-pointer with 17 seconds to go boosted the Spurs in front by eight.

Los Angeles failed to score a field goal in the final 5:59. The Spurs have beaten the Clippers in 16 of their last 17 meetings.
