NHL: Toronto 5, Ottawa 4

TORONTO, March 23 (UPI) -- Goals by Jiri Tlusty and Matt Stajan 41 seconds apart in the third period Saturday boosted the Toronto Maple Leafs past Ottawa 5-4.

Stajan scored the game-winner after Tlusty tied it 4-4 with a backhand shot at 1:33.

Darcy Tucker had a goal and an assist. Kyle Wellwood and Alex Steen also scored, while Vesa Toskala stopped 32 of 36 shots for the Maple Leafs, who have won three straight and five of their last six games.

Ottawa's Cory Stillman had a goal and an assist. Daniel Alfredsson, Martin Lapointe and Dany Heatley also scored.

Jason Spezza and Christoph Schubert had two assists apiece and Martin Gerber surrendered all five goals on 34 shots for the Senators, who failed to improve their playoff positioning in the race for the fourth playoff seed in the Eastern Conference.

They are five points back of Northeast Division-leading and conference leader Montreal.
