RALEIGH, N.C., March 23 (UPI) -- Stephon Curry scored 25 second-half points Sunday when Davidson upset Georgetown 74-70 in a second-round NCAA Tournament contest.
The 10th-seeded Wildcats forged their improbable victory over the second-seeded Hoyas by coming back from a 46-29 deficit with 17:56 left in the Midwest Region contest at RBC Center in Raleigh, N.C.
Curry came alive after scoring only five of his 30 points in the first half. In a complete floor game, the sophomore from Charlotte added five assists and three rebounds.
Point guard Jason Richards scored 20 with five assists, and Andrew Lovedale added 11 points and five rebounds for the Wildcats (28-6), who advanced to a Sweet 16 contest against Wisconsin Thursday in Detroit.
They have won 23 games in a row.
Georgetown was led by Jessie Sapp's 14 points. Jonathan Wallace added 12 and DaJuan Summers had 10, but 7-foot center Roy Hibbert scored only five after early foul trouble.
The Hoyas finished 28-6.
