COL BKB: Wisconsin 72, Kansas State 55

OMAHA, March 22 (UPI) -- Trevon Hughes had 25 points Saturday to lead Wisconsin to a 72-55 win over Kansas State in the second round of the NCAA Midwest Regional.

Michael Flowers made all three of his three-point shots in a 15-point performance. The Badgers (31-4), the region's third seed, meet the winner of the second-round game between Davidson and Georgetown next week in Detroit.

Wisconsin, the Big Ten's regular season and tournament champion, advanced to the Sweet 16 for the fifth time in school history.

Freshman Michael Beasley had 23 points and 13 rebounds for Kansas State. Beasley had 17 points before halftime, but was neutralized in the second half by a Wisconsin defense that shut down the Wildcats (21-12), who missed all 13 of their three-point attempts.
