NHL: New Jersey 4, Colorado 2

DENVER, March 15 (UPI) -- Third-period goals by Jamie Langenbrunner and John Madden Saturday lifted the New Jersey Devils past the Colorado Avalanche 4-2.

With the score tied 2-2, Langenbrunner's 12th this season at 7:52 of the third was the game-winner and Madden's 19th followed about a minute later.

Jay Pandolfo had a goal and an assist and Brian Gionta contributed two assists. Martin Brodeur made 24 saves on 26 shots for the Devils, who won five of their last six games.

With 90 points, they remained at the top the Eastern Conference.

Also, they lead Pittsburgh by three points for first place in the Atlantic Division.

Colorado got one goal each from Paul Stastny (second period) and John-Michael Liles (third period).

Jose Theodore gave up four goals on 27 shots for the Avalanche, who lost for just the second time in their last 10 games.

Colorado's Peter Forsberg (groin injury) missed his fourth straight game.
