Bowyer wins rain-delayed Nationwide race

BRISTOL, Tenn., March 15 (UPI) -- Clint Bowyer was declared the winner of Saturday's rain-shortened Sharpie Mini 300 Nationwide auto race at the Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway.

Only 171 laps had been run before the race was called.

Bowyer was leading Kasey Kahne by less than one-half second when the caution flags came out, causing a nearly two-hour rain delay.

That meant that Bowyer claimed his first win this season and the sixth of his Nationwide career.

"I'll take it any way I can get it," he said. "Kasey Kahne raced me clean because he had the best car, but it's not always the best car that wins."

David Reutimann, Brad Keselowski and Mike Bliss completed the top-five.

In the Nationwide points race, front-runner Kevin Harvick, who finished seventh, has a 49-point lead over Bowyer.
