NEW YORK, March 13 (UPI) -- Jessie Sapp scored 23 points and had six of No. 9-ranked Georgetown's record 17 three-pointers Thursday, in an 82-63 Big East quarterfinal win over Villanova.
Sapp was 6-of-9 from three-point range and Jonathan Wallace was 5-of-6 as the Hoyas tied a Big East record and set a school mark for three-pointers made. Georgetown, 26-4, moves into the tournament semifinals against the winner of a West Virginia-Connecticut quarterfinal game.
Villanova, 20-12, was down by 15 points in the first half and trailed by 11 at halftime, stormed back and took a 45-43 lead with 13:41 to go and was ahead again 50-48 before Georgetown had two runs to take control of the game.
Sapp had the first six points in an 11-0 run and DaJuan Summers and Sapp each had three-point shots in a 10-0 run a short time later that made the score 75-58 with about 3 minutes to go.
Wallace finished with 20 points and Summers 19 as the Hoyas needed to pick up for star player Roy Hibbert, who fouled out without scoring a point.
Villanova was led by Scottie Reynolds' 13-point effort.
