NHL: Ottawa 4, Boston 1

OTTAWA, March 11 (UPI) -- Dany Heatley posted his first hat trick of the season and added one assist Tuesday, carrying the Ottawa Senators to a 4-1 win over the Boston Bruins.

Jason Spezza also scored for the Senators, who remained two points behind Montreal for first place in the Northeast Division.

The Canadiens beat New Jersey, 4-0, on Tuesday. Ottawa tied idle Pittsburgh for fourth place in the conference with 85 points.

Martin Gerber made 28 stops for his 26th win of the season.

Dennis Wideman scored the lone goal for the Bruins, who have lost five of their last six games. Alex Auld allowed three goals on 24 shots in the loss.

Boston remained in seventh place, three points behind New York.
