DENVER, March 8 (UPI) -- Allen Iverson scored a team-high 29 points Friday when the Denver Nuggets beat San Antonio 109-96, ending the Spurs' 11-game winning streak.
After a 54-46 halftime deficit, the winners outscored the Spurs 34-19 in the third period, and 63-42 in the second half, to pull within one game of Golden State for the eighth and final Western Conference playoff spot.
Denver's Carmelo Anthony had 25 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Reserve Eduardo Najera had 19 points and six rebounds and J.R. Smith added 15 points for the Nuggets, who have won four of their last five games.
San Antonio was led by Manu Ginobili's 24 points, four rebounds and five assists. Tim Duncan had 23 points and nine rebounds and Bruce Bowen scored 11 for the Spurs -- whose star point guard, Tony Parker, was held to just four points with six assists.
The Spurs' five-game road winning streak ended.
