COL BKB: Memphis 94, UAB 56

MEMPHIS, March 8 (UPI) -- Third-ranked Memphis used a balanced attack Saturday to pound Alabama-Birmingham 94-56 and claim its third straight Conference-USA regular-season crown.

Memphis scored the game's first 10 points, and used a 30-7 run to produce a 42-16 cushion at intermission.

The final 20 minutes were hardly competitive with Memphis building an 86-47 lead with 5:27 left before its final winning margin.

Memphis got 16 points from Joey Dorsey, followed by Doneal Mack and Andre Allen with 11 points each. Antonio Anderson scored 10.

Mack also had eight rebounds and Dorsey added 12 for the Tigers (30-1, 16-0), who won the C-USA regular season crown with the conference's first-ever unblemished regular season.

UAB was led by Lawrence Kinnard's 16 points and nine rebounds.

Robert Vaden had 13 points and three assists but nine turnovers and Aaron Johnson had 10 points and four assists with five turnovers for the Blazers (22-9, 12-4), who had won five in a row.
