NHL: Florida 5, Pittsburgh 2

SUNRISE, Fla., March 6 (UPI) -- David Booth and Rostislav Olesz scored 39 seconds apart in the first period Thursday, sending the Florida Panthers sailing past Pittsburgh 5-2.

Florida goaltender Craig Anderson had his shutout minutes streak end at 150, but the Panthers won their third straight in the opener of a season-long, seven-game homestand.

Pittsburgh had won its previous two games.

Booth, who also had two assists, put a wrist shot past Marc-Andre Fleury at 4:19 of the first and Olesz quickly followed by scoring on a rebound.

Fleury gave up three goals on 19 shots in the opening period and was replaced at the start of the second by Ty Conklin.

Anderson made 25 saves, but his shutout streak ended in the first period when Ryan Malone tipped home a shot from the point by Hal Gill. Anderson had recorded 1-0 shutouts in each of his previous two starts.
