CLEVELAND, March 2 (UPI) -- Wide receiver Donte Stallworth has left the New England Patriots after just one season for a seven-year contract with the Cleveland Browns.
On Saturday, one day after signing quarterback Derek Anderson to a three-year deal, the Browns shored up Anderson's receiving corps.
Stallworth, a six-year veteran, joins wide receivers Braylon Edwards and Joe Jurevicius, along with tight end Kellen Winslow Jr., in what could be one of the NFL's deepest group of receivers.
"Donte will be the major addition to our offense this year," General Manager Phil Savage told the Akron Beacon-Journal in a statement. "He will bring legitimate speed, quickness and play-making ability to the receiving corps and add a different dimension to the skill players we already have in place."
Stallworth, a first-round draft pick by New Orleans in 2002 out of Tennessee, has compiled 31touchdowns after 279 receptions for 4,213 yards.
Last season, he scored three times on 46 catches for 697 yards.
