CHESTNUT HILL, Mass., March 1 (UPI) -- Tyler Hansbrough had 25 points Saturday when second-ranked North Carolina overcame a 46-point barrage by Tyrese Rice to beat Boston College, 90-80.

Wayne Ellington added 20 points and Danny Green 18 for the Tar Heels (27-2, 12-2 ACC). It was North Carolina's sixth straight win and could return the Tar Heels to the top of the polls, since No. 1 Tennessee's loss at Vanderbilt earlier in the week.

The win enabled the Tar Heels to keep pace with ACC co-leader Duke, which beat N.C. State Saturday. The Tar Heels play No. 6 Duke next Saturday.

Carolina trailed by as many as 18 points during the second half, but the Eagles (13-14, 4-10) ran out of steam. The Tar Heels got their first lead of the game, at 62-61 with 11:17 to go.
