Report: Wooden hospitalized after a fall

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 29 (UPI) -- Iconic former UCLA basketball Coach John Wooden has been hospitalized after a fall at his Encino, Calif., home Thursday night, a report said.

Wooden's daughter, Nan Muehlhausen, said in a statement that the 97-year-old Hall of Fame coach suffered a hairline fracture of his left wrist and a fractured left collarbone. He also hit his head, but Muehlhausen added that a CT scan of his neck and head were negative, the Los Angeles Times reported.

"We appreciate everyone's concern, but we are requesting that people do not call the hospital and do not try to visit Dad at this time," Muehlhausen said. "Dad's spirits are good. He is up and joking around with the family and will probably be in the hospital for a couple of more days."

Wooden, who won 10 straight NCAA titles in the 1970s and '80s, was hospitalized in April 2006 because of an inflamed colon and in April 2007 for a suspected reaction to arthritis medication.
