NHL: Colorado 3, Vancouver 2 (SO)

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Joe Sakic scored with 15 seconds left in regulation Wednesday and again in a shootout, lifting Colorado to a 3-2 road win over Vancouver.

Sakic unleashed a slap shot that got past Roberto Luongo and forced overtime. He then joined Marek Svatos with the shootout goals that allowed the Avalanche to conclude a five-game road swing with a 3-1-1 mark.

Colorado moved into a tie with Vancouver and Nashville for seventh place in the Western Conference.

Jose Theodore made 29 saves in regulation and was perfect in the shootout, stopping Mason Raymond and Ryan Shannon.

Sakic's tying goal came just 90 seconds after Alexandre Burrows had given Vancouver a 2-1 lead with a tip-in.
