VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- A Canadian sawmill worker is $1 million richer after scoring 15 out of 20 shootout goals at an intermission in an NHL game in Vancouver.
Darwin Head, 35, was selected randomly for the Chevrolet Million Dollar Shootout at Wednesday's Vancouver Canucks-Colorado Avalanche game at General Motors Place from some 8.6 million online entries for the contest, the Vancouver Sun reported.
Hockey legend Bobby Orr coached Head for several days and was behind him when the 15th puck went into the net from the far blue line just as the 24-second time limit expired, the report said.
Head said he spent the last three weeks practicing on an outdoor rink near his home in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He said he began playing hockey when he was 10 and continued for 15 years.
Prior to the big shootout, he and two friends shooting together netted 15 goals which won each of them and one fan a Chevy Malibu hybrid car, the report said.
