COL BKB: Georgetown 73, Cincinnati 53

WASHINGTON, Feb. 23 (UPI) -- Jessie Sapp led a balanced Georgetown attack Saturday with 16 points when the 11th-ranked Hoyas pounded the Cincinnati Bearcats 73-53.

The underdog visitors at the Verizon Center played a spunky first half and trailed only 34-27 at the break.

Georgetown quickly established its dominance with a 16-4 spurt opening the second. Its lead was 50-33 with 11:25 to play.

Austin Freeman added 13 points and four rebounds, while Roy Hibbert had 12 points and five blocked shots, and DaJuan Summers added 10 points with four rebounds. Sapp also had four assists and four steals for the Hoyas (22-4, 12-3 Big East), who have won three of their last four contests.

Their second-half scoring advantage was 39-26.

Both Deonta Vaughn and John Williamson scored 13 points to lead Cincinnati. Rashad Bishop added 10 points and three rebounds for the Bearcats (13-13, 8-6), who had won three in a row.

Their road record sank to 3-8.
