COL BKB: St. Mary's 100, Pepperdine 64

MALIBU, Calif., Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Todd Golden and Carlin Hughes hit four three-pointers each Monday in a school-record performance that produced St. Mary's 100-64 cakewalk over Pepperdine.

St. Mary's, ranked 20th in the nation, finished the night with 17 treys on 29 tries, surpassing the school's previous high of 16 three-pointers set against Gonzaga Jan. 8, 2005.

Golden ended with 15 points and Hughes 12. Patrick Mills led the Gaels' balanced offense with 18 points and Ian O'Leary had 15. Diamon Simpson added 13 points and 13 rebounds for St. Mary's (23-3, 10-1 WCC), which has won six straight.

Ryan Holmes and Mychel Thompson each had 14 points to lead Pepperdine. Malcolm Thomas added in 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Waves (9-18, 3-8), who had a two-game win streak broken.

Pepperdine missed all 10 of its three-point tries in the first half, and hit just nine of 37 overall. Pepperdine trailed by as many as 32 in the first half and never got closer than 27 in the second half.
