NHL: Montreal 1, Philadelphia 0

MONTREAL, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Carey Price recorded his first career shutout Saturday when the Montreal Canadiens slipped past the Philadelphia Flyers 1-0.

The game's lone goal was scored by Montreal left wing Andrei Kostitsyn. His 18th goal of the season came on the power play at 3:52 of the second period.

Price turned away all 34 shots he faced to help the Canadiens get their second straight victory on the heels of a three-game losing streak.

The loss was Philadelphia's sixth in a row.

Montreal has beaten the Flyers in five straight games for the first time since the 1977-78 season.

In a coincidence, their 4-1 win at Philadelphia Dec. 13 started the Flyers' other six-game slide this season, with two of those losses coming in shootouts.

The defeats in the current streak all came in regulation, and left the Flyers gasping in the Atlantic Division.

Netminder Antero Niittymaki stopped 19 of 20 shots.
