COL BKB: Syracuse 77, Georgetown 70

SYRACUSE, N.Y., Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Paul Harris' 22 points and eight rebounds Saturday led Syracuse to a 77-70 upset of eighth-ranked Georgetown.

The Orange, needing a signature victory to improve their shaky NCAA tournament hopes, ran away from an early 8-6 deficit by using a 10-0 run on their way to a 38-22 halftime lead.

When the Hoyas came within 43-34, Syracuse responded by building a 53-36 lead with 11:41 left and coasted home.

Donte Green scored 18 points, while Jonny Flynn added 17 and Arinze Onuaku had 13 for the Orange (17-9, 7-6 Big East). They broke a two-game skid and it was their first win against a ranked team this season.

Jonathan Wallace led Georgetown with a game-high 26 points, including six of seven three-pointers.

DaJuan Summers had 14 points, six rebounds and three assists, while both Roy Hibbert and Jessie Sapp scored 11 points for the Hoyas, who won and a previous meeting between the two schools 64-62 in overtime Jan. 21.

More than 30,000 fans saw the contest at Syracuse's Carrier Dome.
