Bransdon, Luiten lead in Indonesia Open

JAKARTA, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- David Bransdon and Joost Luiten shared the lead Thursday after one round of the Indonesia Open, which saw play suspended because of severe storms.

The leaders, who each shot 6-under-par 64, had to wait out a 50-minute weather delay during their round. Later golfers saw play suspended by even heavier rain. They are to complete their first rounds Friday.

Eleven golfers were at 5-under, one behind Bransdon and Luiten. That group included Scott Hend, James Kamte and Martin Wiegele who were among the golfers who didn't finish their rounds Thursday.

Luiten, playing the back nine first, started strong, with birdies at Nos. 10 and 11. While he dropped back to even with bogeys at 14 and 16, he closed the side with two birdies. He finished with birdies on three of his last four holes for a share of the lead.

Bransdon had a bogey at his first hole but got back to even the next hole and raced up the leaderboard with birdies on Nos. 4-7. He added birdies at 11 and 18 to tie for the lead.
