NHL: New Jersey 3, Ottawa 2 (OT)

NEWARK, N.J., Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Brian Gionta's goal at 2:14 of overtime Wednesday lifted the New Jersey Devils past the Ottawa Senators 3-2.

It was the 14th goal this season for the six-year right wing.

The contest went to OT because Ottawa's Randy Robitaille's 10th goal at 15:29 of the second period tied it at 2-2 and there was no scoring in the third.

Jamie Langenbrunner had a goal and an assist. Karel Rachunek also scored once.

Patrik Elias had two assists and Martin Brodeur saved 23 of 25 shots for the Devils, who have split their last four games.

They had scored six times each in their previous two.

Ottawa's other goal was scored by Luke Richardson in the first.

Richardson also had an assist and Martin Gerber was beaten three times on 31 shots for the Senators, who have lost five of their last seven games overall, including two in a row.
