DALLAS, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Dallas and New Jersey worked out a huge trade involving Jason Kidd Wednesday only to have it at least temporarily blocked by Deaven George.

The Nets agreed to send Kidd to the Mavericks for a package that included guard Devin Harris, center DeSagana Diop, swingman Jerry Stackhouse and first-round draft picks in both 2008 and 2010.

Also included in the deal was George, who has a one-year contract that features a no-trade clause.

George reportedly told the Mavericks before their game with Portland Wednesday that he would not consent to being a part of the deal.

When asked prior to the Portland game whether the deal to acquire Kidd would go through, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban told the Dallas Morning News: "No, I don't think so."

Antoine Wright and Malik Allen were also slated to go from New Jersey to Dallas in the trade. Kidd, Wright and Allen all sat out New Jersey's game with Toronto Wednesday.

George started for the Mavericks against the Trail Blazers and Diop entered the game in a reserve role.
