PEBBLE BEACH, Calif., Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Steve Lowery birdied the first hole of a playoff Sunday to win the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am -- his first PGA Tour title in more than seven years.
Lowery sank a 7-foot putt on the first extra hole against Vijay Singh, who had given up a three-shot lead in the final round.
The win, worth $1.08 million, was Lowery's third on the tour and his first since November of 2007.
Lowery shot a 4-under-par 68 and Singh a 71 in the final round, both finishing at 10-under 278.
Singh, after wasting his lead, knocked a pitch shot close and birdied the 72nd hole to force the playoff.
"It couldn't be a better timely win," Lowery said. "This rights the ship and gets me back to where I was ... It's just really a good thing for me."
