COL BKB: Louisville 59, Georgetown 51

LOUISVILLE, Ky., Feb. 10 (UPI) -- David Padgett led the way with 18 points Saturday in Louisville's 59-51 upset of sixth-ranked Georgetown.

Jerry Smith hit 4 of 5 three-pointers to finish with 16 points for the Cardinals (18-6, 8-3 Big East), who have won three straight games and five of six. Earl Clark had nine points and seven rebounds.

Austin Freeman and Roy Hibbert scored 14 points each for the Hoyas (19-3, 9-2), who had come into the game with a six-game winning streak. Pat Ewing scored seven points and pulled down seven rebounds.

The Hoyas were up 31-23 at the half but the Cardinals opened the second half with a 15-6 surge to go up 38-37. Louisville went up 50-41 with just under five minutes left to play and led 54-44 with 1:34 remaining.

Georgetown answered with a 5-0 run, but Padgett iced the game, sinking two free throws with 46 seconds left.
