PULLMAN, Wash., Feb. 8 (UPI) -- Kevin Lowe scored four points in an eight-point run late in the game Thursday, lifting No. 4 UCLA to a 67-59 win over Washington State.
The Bruins beat the 17th-ranked Cougars for the second time this year, finally putting together an outburst that broke open a close game.
Lowe made five of eight shots from the field in scoring 14 for the Bruins (21-2, 9-1 Pac-10).
UCLA owned a one-point lead when Josh Shipp scored on a layup with 7:22 remaining. That touched off a surge that gave the Bruins a nine-point cushion with 4:35 to play. Lowe finished off the run with a tip-in at the end of a sequence in which the Bruins claimed four offensive rebounds before scoring.
Washington State (17-5, 5-5) was led by Kyle Weaver with 13 points.
