Indiana trailed by a dozen in the second half and needed a three-pointer in the dying seconds of regulation by freshman Eric Gordon to force the first overtime.

With two seconds left in the first extra period, Illinois' Shaun Pruitt missed two free throws in a tie game.

Gordon finished with 19 points after being booed much of the night by the Illinois crowd. He had originally committed to Illinois before enrolling at Indiana.

D.J. White added 16 for Indiana (19-3, 8-1 Big Ten), which has won two straight after losing two in a row.

Demetri McCamey scored a season-high 31 points for Illinois (10-14, 2-9). McCamey hit seven three-point shots.
