NHL: Detroit 3, Boston 1

BOSTON, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Pavel Datsyuk scored the go-ahead goal Saturday and the Detroit Red Wings beat the Boston Bruins 3-1.

Datsyuk's 18th goal of the season put Detroit in front for good after the Red Wings broke a 1-1 tie at 1:53 of the third period. He also assisted on Henrik Zetterburg's 31st goal at 15:04 of the second.

Detroit's other goal was scored by Brian Rafalski (power play) at 14:02 of the third.

Chris Osgood stopped 22 of 23 shots in the Red Wings' seventh straight victory.

Boston's lone goal was scored by right wing Chuck Kobasew after assists by Glen Metropolit and Milan Lucic at 7:52 of the first.

Tim Thomas gave up three goals on 32 shots for the Bruins, whose three-game winning streak ended.

The Bruins lost in regulation to the Red Wings for the first time since Dec. 11, 1999, and Thomas had his career-best five-game winning streak broken.
