NBA: Utah 96, Washington 87

WASHINGTON, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Mehmet Okur scored 27 points Friday and the Utah Jazz ran off seven straight in the fourth period to defeat Washington 96-87.

It was Utah's seventh straight win, a season best, and its 11th triumph in 12 games. Ronnie Brewer added 12 points for the Jazz and Matt Harpring had 10.

Antawn Jamison made 11 of 13 shots and scored 31 points for Washington, which has dropped two in a row.

Washington was within three with 7:30 remaining in the fourth period when the Jazz went on a 7-0 run. Deron Williams finished the surge with a jumper and Washington came no closer than eight points the rest of the way.

Utah overcame a sluggish start which saw Washington take a 21-11 lead after one period. The 11 points were the fewest Utah has scored in any quarter this season.
