NHL: Colorado 6, Chicago 3

DENVER, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Two goals and an assist by Marek Svatos Wednesday helped send Colorado to a 6-3 victory over Chicago.

Eleven Colorado players produced a point in the Avalanche's first win in three outings.


Jose Theodore, starting his 11th straight game, gave up a goal on 11 shots before leaving after two periods with back spasms. Peter Budaj, who had not appeared since Jan. 2, finished out the victory by giving up two goals on just four shots.

Chicago got two goals from Yanic Perreault, but lost its third straight after winning four in a row. Nikolai Khabibulin, who is 0-8-1 in his last nine games, allowed six goals on 30 shots.

Colorado scored three times in the first period.
